How Everything Began

Sandra's Music Trip

The Concert Trip to Schaffhausen

It was the year 2001. At a rainy weekend in May Sandra was going to have a concert with her local music club in Schaffhausen.

After the rehearsals on Saturday, there was a little time left to have a look around the old town before the big concert in the evening.

The Antique Shop

Sandra had enough time to stroll leisurely along the alleys of the unknown city. Attracted by a shop window full of antique objects she stopped in front of it and dared, after a short moment of hesitation, to enter the dark shop.

Markus's Golden Pocket Watch

When the Watch doesn't Tick Properly anymore

The antiques dealer used to work as a watchmaker. Markus hoped that he would give him specialist advice and therefore brought him his grandfather's heirloom, a golden pocket watch, to be repaired. It hadn't been ticking properly for quite a long time.

The First Encounter

Having arrived in the shop, Markus was looking around taking in the objects of past times. Meanwhile he followed incidentally a conversation between a customer (Sandra) and the shop assistant behind the counter. They were talking about a concert in town. The customer was carrying an instrument case, which was obviously the reason for their conversation.

Markus gave the young woman only a fleeting glance when she left the shop. He then turned to the shop assistant to get his advice.

A few minutes later Markus noticed a case next to the counter.  Huch, the young woman must have forgotten it here.

The Concert in the Tonhalle

Markus asked the shop assistant whether he knew any details about the upcoming concert. So Markus was able to find out where the young woman was going to have a concert with her music club this evening.

No Going Out with Friends

Markus tried hard to find the young woman. He hurried to the Tonhalle but didn't meet any musicians. So he waited patiently for the arrival of the first participants of the concert. Fortunately the young sought-after woman was one of the first who entered the hall. The nervousness and the agitation about the lost instrument was written on her face.

Without hesitating Markus walked up to the young musician and introduced himself: "I am Markus". Sandra introduced herself as well and she already noticed her flute case in his hand.

"I've found this case and I'd like to give it back to you so that you can accompany the concert in our town." said Markus. Much relieved and enthusiastic about Markus's gesture, Sandra thanked him.

"Are you going to listen to our concert?", asked Sandra. "Of course!" replied Markus enthusiastically. Again and again they exchanged glances during the concert.

This was the beginning of a wonderful time which we could spend together from this moment on.
